 As a resident of Hackney, I was keen to get involved with a local youth work initiative and Hackney Quest's focus on enabling young people to participate in activities in London (and beyond) which they may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience, providing a support network for them outside home/school and generally helping to raise their aspirations, is something that I instantly wanted to be a part of.
But what makes Hackney Quest so special is the people. The team at Hackney Quest (Colette, Bella, Keeley and Karen) and the young people, who regularly participate in the diverse programme of events and activities, are truly an inspiration to me. The energy, enthusiasm and generosity of everyone involved is awesome.
Growing up in Hackney has its challenges, but Hackney represents a beautiful mix of ethnicities, faiths, cultures and talent - there is so much that we can give to (and learn from) the young people in our community. Hackney Quest taps into this rich diversity, encouraging the young people to be the best they can be.
